London Art Fair 2025: Where Modern Masters Meet Tomorrow's Stars

There's something magical about the London Art Fair in January - perhaps it's the crisp winter light streaming through the Victorian ironwork of the Business Design Centre, or maybe it's the palpable excitement of discovering your next collecting passion.
As we approach the 2025 edition (January 22-26, with VIP Preview on January 21), I'm particularly thrilled about reconnecting with many of our longstanding gallery connections.
Leading galleries like Osborne Samuel, Messums, Portland Gallery, and The Redfern Gallery have been instrumental in shaping the Modern British art market, and their booths are always a masterclass in curatorial excellence.
In the contemporary sphere, I'm especially looking forward to seeing what Blond Gallery, GBS Fine Art, Tanya Baxter Contemporary, Purdy Hicks, Thompson's Galleries, and Gallery Different bring to the fair - they consistently surprise us with their thoughtfully curated presentations of established and emerging talent.
Print enthusiasts should make sure to visit Rabley Gallery, along with the fair's dedicated prints section, which promises an exceptional selection of works on paper. This year's fair also features an expanded Encounters section with 24 galleries presenting cutting-edge contemporary work.
I'm particularly excited about Ione & Mann's presentation in the Platform section. They consistently introduce exciting up-and-coming talents who challenge and inspire collectors with fresh perspectives and innovative approaches.
There are so many wonderful galleries to discover, each with their unique specialisms, and while I cannot name them all, Vitruvian Art Collectors Club members joining our gallery hops and art fair tours will quickly discover the lay of the land and identify their favorites.
Beyond the Booths The fair's talks and tours program has always been a highlight, but this year's lineup feels particularly relevant to our current collecting climate. Having known many of the participating galleries for years, I'm especially looking forward to the candid conversations that happen after hours, where real market insights are often shared. These relationships, built over generations of art dealing, allow us to offer our members unique perspectives and opportunities.
Making the Most of Your Visit
My top tip for enjoying the fair? Take your time and trust in the power of slow looking. Art reveals itself gradually, and rushing through can mean missing those subtle details that make a piece extraordinary. I always encourage collectors to spend at least ten minutes with works that intrigue them - you'll be amazed at how much more you discover when you allow yourself to truly look.
Rather than trying to see everything, focus on having meaningful encounters with art that speaks to you. Art fairs can feel overwhelming, but they're also filled with unexpected moments of discovery. Sometimes the most rewarding finds happen in that quiet corner booth you might have rushed past, or through an enlightening conversation with a gallerist who shares your passion for a particular artist or movement.
